GTA 6’s morality system will actually break if you cause too much chaos and give up tracking you altogether.
From the Extended Look streamed on Netflix, it became clear that GTA 6 is lifting plenty of features from Red Dead Redemption 2. This includes the “Criminal Profile” system, which, just like RDR2’s Honor system, assesses what kind of lawbreaker you are.
For example, pulling off a job without harming pedestrians will nudge you towards the ‘good’ side, while taking out innocent bystanders will give you a ‘bad’ reputation. But it appears that it’s even possible for the game to write you off as a lost cause.
YouTuber TGG attended a preview at Rockstar North where the Criminal Profile system was explained in more depth. In a video on his channel, he broke down the four different labels you can be stuck with: Professional, Aggressive, Violent, and Psycho.
But co-studio head Rob Nelson revealed there is a fifth, unnamed state reserved for the most unhinged players. If you commit enough diabolical acts, the logo showing your Criminal Profile starts to “crack” before “shattering” completely.
At this point, the system no longer tracks your actions for the rest of the playthrough, and you can no longer turn back to the light side.
According to TGG, this state will be tough to achieve, and is essentially an option for players who don’t want to engage with their Criminal Profile.
It’s also a way of preventing players who have spent the entire game committing horrible acts from quickly redeeming themselves towards the end, which was possible in RDR2.
