Managing the graveyard is not your only job in Graveyard Keeper 2. Jully also wants you to help improve the village, which means you're going to have to learn about fishing and gardening. Gardening is not available right away, though. You will need to unlock it before you can start growing crops. Here’s how to unlock gardening and grow crops in Graveyard Keeper 2.
To unlock gardening, you need to open the Tech Tree and go to the Farming tab. You’ll find the Gardening Technology there, which you can unlock using your Green Tech Points.
With Gardening Technology learned, talk to Herm. After you sell the Burial Certificate to Januarius, leave the village tavern and go right to find Herm. He will tell you that he doesn’t have enough land to grow all the crops he needs. Since you have plenty of space, you offer to grow some crops for him. He then sells you the wheat seeds you need to get started.
Take the seeds back to your yard. There’s a garden right next to it, and you can interact with the desk there to place Garden Beds. You don’t need any materials to place them. Once done, you can dig them with your shovel.
If you can’t dig the Garden Beds yet, you probably need to increase your Farming Mastery. You can do this by completing farming-related Inspiration tasks, such as collecting mushrooms and harvesting bushes.
Once your Garden Beds are ready, plant your wheat seeds and wait for them to grow. You don’t need to water them. You can carry on with your usual activities and come back when the crops are ready.
Harvest the wheat and take it back to Herm. For the Planted and Delivered quest, you need to give him 5 Wheat. Talk to him and choose the option to give him the wheat samples. He will love them, and this unlocks more items in his gardening store. You’ll be able to buy things like onions and onion seeds, cabbage, beets, carrots and carrot seeds, and much more.
