While Campaign Evolved is notable for many reasons, such as featuring brand-new prequel missions centered around Master Chief, Sergeant Johnson, and the Covenant Sacristan Order, it was highly notable for being the first Halo title to launch on Xbox's rival platform, PlayStation 5.
However, in the wake of CEO of Xbox Asha Sharma reinforcing console exclusives, Campaign Evolved may wind up being the only Halo title released on PlayStation consoles, and if PS Halo fans want to learn more about the Halo universe, their best route may be to check out some of Halo's fantastic novels and comics.
One of CE's best levels is 343 Guilty Spark, which turns Halo from a simple sci-fi FPS into an FPS horror game through the introduction of the zombie-like Flood and the footage depicting the Flood's attack on Sergeant Johnson, Captain Keyes, and Private Jenkins.
However, if fans ever wanted to learn how Sergeant Johnson survived this fateful encounter, they'll have to pick up a copy of the anthology comic, The Halo Graphic Novel, which is home to the short story called Breaking Quarantine depicting Johnson fighting his way through the Forerunner facility without getting infected.
The Halo Graphic Novel also features The Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor, which follows Halo 2's Elite Spec Ops Commander Rtas 'Vadum as he's dispatched to the Covenant support ship Infinite Succor during the events of CE by then-Supreme Commander Thel 'Vadam to wipe out a Flood outbreak on the ship.
Campaign Evolved's Operation: METEORITE prequel missions delve a bit into the Covenant's history, with the Minister of Harmony briefly mentioning how the Prophets and Elites have long been founding members and partner species of the Covenant since the creation of the Writ of Union.
