One of the major reveals during today's Minecraft Live showcase was a brand-new dimension called The Sift, the first that's been added to the game in more than a decade.
It'd be a bit of an understatement to say that Minecraft has evolved a lot over the years. Ever since it became a worldwide phenomenon, Mojang has consistently added to pretty much every aspect of the game, from Mobs and items to biomes and blocks. The one thing that we've not seen in a really long while, though, is a new dimension.
The last dimension that was added to Minecraft was The End, which got introduced all the way back in 2011 as the game finally hit its 1.0 release. Fans have been wondering when a new world would come to Minecraft, and we finally know thanks to today's big Minecraft Live showcase.
Today's Minecraft Live showcase was absolutely packed with news, but easily the biggest reveal was the announcement of The Sift, the first new dimension to join the game in nearly 16 years. We didn't get to see much of The Sift in its brief reveal trailer, but it looks to be a light world with a pink colour palette and a unique squishy rabbit-like Mob.
We sadly didn't get to find out when The Sift is going to be added to Minecraft, but the reveal did confirm that it's coming to the Bedrock and Java editions of the game. Interestingly, fans who are eager to see what The Sift is all about will be able to "experience it first" in Minecraft Dungeons 2, which isn't far from release at all.
As for what else to expect from The Sift, it's really not too clear from the all-too-brief trailer. It does seem almost like the opposite of The End with its bright palette and less horrifying world, so that could be what Mojang is going for.
