Out of nowhere, Aspyr has revealed Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle — but don't get too excited! As of right now, the collection is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, launching next week on the 30th September.
The bundle includes Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Middle Earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition — but you'll also be able to buy each game separately.
As you can imagine, a lot of people seem to have caught a glimpse of the below trailer and just assumed that these ports were being announced for all current-gen platforms, obviously including PS5.
Various comments sections are littered with incredibly disappointed onlookers, who can't believe these two beloved titles are still locked to last-gen, non-Nintendo machines.
Indeed, both Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War are widely regarded as two of the best Lord of the Rings-related games ever made. Their trademark Nemesis system, in which randomised adversaries are given unique names, personalities, and gameplay attributes, remains an all-time favourite.
However, as alluded, the two games have never been re-released or remastered. The PS4 versions are stuck at a sluggish 30 frames-per-second, even when played on PS5 via backwards compatibility.
I suppose there's a chance that Aspyr is paying attention to all of this newfound demand. Fingers crossed something actually comes of it.
