Its sales may have fallen behind Marvel’s Spider-Man in Japan, but in the US Wolverine is proving there’s still a place for single player games.

Circana’s engagement tracker – which ranks the titles with most active users on a weekly basis – shows Insomniac’s new PS5 exclusive was the only single player title to break into the top ten.

The game secured seventh position during its launch week (ending 19th September), and was flanked by the usual mixture of online live service games, like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

Analyst Mat Piscatella says players engaged with the title for an average of 14.2 hours during the week, which is quite impressive.

Given this is a one-and-done single player experience, I don’t expect Wolverine to show up on the charts again, but this does hint at decent launch sales in the US at least. I’ve seen estimates peg the title’s sales at around 3 million units so far.

Sony’s yet to comment on the title’s performance, but that’s not unusual – we’ll likely get some kind of statement during its next earnings report in November.
