Walmart just kicked off its annual "GeForce Week" sale with oustanding deals on gaming laptops featuring Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs. These deals are, frankly, so good that they're worth picking up before Black Friday. This sale appears to be run by Walmart so you probably won't find these deals anywhere else (unless another retailer price matches). It runs through September 28, but the most popular configs appear to be selling out earlier than that.
Read on for more details. I've broken down the deals by graphics card, since that is the one of the biggest dictators of price. If you haven't yet done your research and aren't sure which level of laptop is right for you, I'd suggest starting with the GPU. Keep in mind that laptops use mobile versions of desktop GPUs. They are considerably less powerful so you want to scale up (i.e. if you think you'd need a desktop 5070, then aim for a laptop 5070 Ti).
The RTX 5060 (mobile) offers great gaming performance at an affordable price. This card is comparable to the previous generation's 4070 and will run most games at 60fps on display resolutions of 1200p or lower. It's a capable graphics card for gaming at 1600p but you will have to tweak down some graphics settings in more demanding games. At that point, you'll definitely see a noticeable improvement by moving up to a 5070.
The RTX 5070 (mobile) is a healthy step up in performance from the 5060 and the GPU I'd recommend for most gamers. The GeForce RTX 5070 will run most games at 60fps at display resolutions of 1600p or lower.
The RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU performs about 20%-30% better than the RTX 5070. Compared to Nvidia's previous generation RTX 4000 mobile GPUs, it's comparable in performance to the RTX 4080 and pulls ahead of it with DLSS 4.5 enabled. You could probably experiment with even more demanding settings like ray tracing.
The RTX 5080 mobile GPU is roughly 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 5070 Ti mobile. Compared to previous generation GPUs, it's actually slightly more powerful than the RTX 4090. This is the GPU you want if you're planning to play games at resolutions well above 1600p (3K-4K), whether it be on the native display or connected to an external monitor.
