Forza Horizon 6 players in Japan have claimed they’ve been banned for having anime-themed paint jobs on their cars, despite having them in other games.
Customizing your car in Forza has long been something that fans love to dedicate time to. Many take real-life designs from different racing series, movies, and memes, and put them on the wide range of cars in-game.
Anime-themed cars – also known as itasha – have also become a fan favorite over the years. With Forza Horizon 6 being set in Japan, these designs have become even more common to see, with fans downloading them by the dozen.
However, fans in Japan have now claimed that their designs have been removed, with users actually banned from uploading new ones as well.
It was pointed out by Automaton, who noted that some fans have claimed there is a “reporting campaign” going on to see them struck down.
“They (the developers) show absolutely no respect for the culture they used as the game’s main selling point,” one player said. “It was peaceful, and itasha were a normal thing. Yet in this installment, set in Japan, the homeland of itasha culture, they’ve become something that is punished.”
Others noted that some liveries – which are more on the suggestive and adult-themed side of the argument – have been rightfully banned, but that the mass banning has affected those who don’t fall foul of that.
“Some were genuinely against the rules, but the vast majority were just regular itasha paint jobs,” another posted; nothing “work in progress” liveries had also seen players receiving bans.
