Well, that was unexpected. As part of the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony , studio president Johanna Faries announced that Blizzard is partnering with Netflix on an animated Diablo series. The announcement was made as Faries emphasized the studio is called Blizzard Entertainment, meaning it doesn't intend to limit itself to games. Overwatch and Warcraft were also specifically mentioned after the Diablo series' announcement, though Faries did not say if anything is official or concrete at this stage. Blizzard is no stranger to non-interactive adaptations of its games, of course, with the Warcraft movie releasing about a decade ago. That movie didn't exactly light the world on fire, critically or commercially, but an animated series or two may better fit Blizzard's IP. No timeline was given for when we could see the Diablo animated series, but it was just one of several big announcements the company made during its opening ceremony.
