Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game gets Ranked Mode and Penalties for Ragequitters

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game had a rocky launch, when less than 24 hours before the game was expected to release, it was announced that the game was delayed on XBOX Series X|S and features would be missing from the Nintendo Switch version.

Since then, the developers have deployed regular updates to the PC and PlayStation 5 editions of the game, including quality-of-life fixes, gameplay improvements, and more.

The latest Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game update is arguably the biggest yet, as it adds the highly requested Ranked Mode 1.0, issues penalties to discourage players from quitting matches, and makes even more fixes. We break down all the key details you need to know before hopping into your first match on this update.

In Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Ranked, you receive a ranking for each character. Ranked matches are automatically a three-out-of-five set, and characters are locked in until the set is complete. When a player wins three out of five matches in a set, players can continue the set with the option to change characters.

Your Character rank is shown as a badge. There are ten badges available to earn, which are separated into two groups:

Beginner ranks are badges one through three, and are earned by completing placement matches. Your score will be calibrated over some number of games, the number of which isn’t fixed. You begin your ranked journey as a Rookie, then move to Apprentice when you complete the first third of the matches you need, then move to Acolyte when you reach the second third of the matches you need.

As for Master ranks, those are badges four through ten. When you make it out of the placement rounds, you will be assigned a badge based on your rank points for that character. The skill ranges from approximately 1,000-2,000 Rank Points.

The rank badges are Rookie, Apprentice, Acolyte, Contender, Prodigy, Pro Bender, White Lotus, Grand Lotus, Chosen, and a tenth badge that has yet to be revealed.
