Sony's PS5 gets criticized for its lack of exclusive games compared to previous PlayStation consoles, but it has two new console exclusives dropping in September. Sony has started pulling back on porting its games to PC, so there should be even more PS5 games that are pure exclusives and not just console exclusives in the future.
Earlier this year, PS5 gamers were treated to a critically-acclaimed exclusive in the form of Saros from Housemarque. Saros earned praise for its eye-popping visuals and tough-as-nails, fast-paced combat that gave fans another taste of Returnal-style gameplay, but in a more approachable package. The next PS5 console exclusives coming soon will offer something completely different, and should ensure gamers on the platform have plenty to play in September.
First up is Marvel's Wolverine, set to launch for PS5 on September 15. Marvel's Wolverine is the latest game in Insomniac's growing Marvel universe, sharing canon with the studio's Spider-Man video games. Wolverine has been one of the most hotly-anticipated PS5 exclusives since it was first announced, and it looks like it will be an action-packed adventure, to say the least. There have been some criticisms aimed at Wolverine's character designs and its use of certain video game tropes, but we will find out sooner rather than later how the final product shakes out.

Later in September, PS5 gamers can look forward to a console exclusive Silent Hill game in the form of Silent Hill: Townfall. Silent Hill: Townfall is a first-person take on the franchise, developed by Screen Burn Interactive. The game features traditional Silent Hill puzzle-solving as players explore a spooky town and do their best to avoid the various creatures inhabiting it. The Silent Hill franchise was on ice for years, but it's been on a hot streak since Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake dropped in 2024. Silent Hill f kept the series going strong in 2025, and hopefully Townfall keeps the momentum going. Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled to release on September 24, and while it will also be available on PC, the only console you will be able to play it on is PS5.
Wolverine and Silent Hill: Townfall are the only two PS5 console exclusives releasing in September, but another is on deck for October. Phantom Blade Zero is the headliner for October when it comes to PS5 console exclusives, with the highly-anticipated action game already being hailed as a potential Game of the Year contender. Other PS5 console exclusive games releasing that month include survival game Enshrouded (coming to Xbox in 2027, so it's more of a timed-console exclusive) and Stupid Never Dies.
Looking further ahead, there should be some major PS5 console exclusives releasing in 2027. God of War Laufey is releasing for PS5 in February as a pure PS5 exclusive, and while it's possible it will come later than expected, the latest rumblings are that Naughty Dog will release Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in 2027 as well. PS5 gamers will have to keep busy with the new games releasing this month while they wait for more announcements about future titles.
