Just a week after the Steam Frame presented Valve's vision for VR gaming, Meta is getting ready to take the stage at Meta Connect 2026.
While I don't imagine the Meta Quest 4 will be headlining, there have been a ton of rumors swirling around about its XR 'Phoenix' headset. This would essentially be a VR headset that seems to be more focused on passive entertainment than gaming. The company will also likely have new smart glasses, and will spend a huge amount of time talking about AI.
I'd love to see Meta at least tease a Meta Quest 4. Its current-generation Meta Quest 3 headset is still one of the most cost-effective ways to get into VR. However, because the Quest 3 and 3S haven't gone up in price, it's possible that Meta will avoid even mentioning a next-generation version, due to the cost increases it'd likely have to bear.

7:56pm: Now the real question. The Meta VR Glasses will come out in Spring 2027, and are going to cost $1,299. That's expensive, for sure, but it is a pretty unique device.
7:54pm: The Meta VR Glasses will also support hologram calling. You'll be able to call other users, and appear as a full-bodied hologram.
7:51pm: There are actually games coming for this thing! There will be 20 new hands-only VR games coming out, and it also supports the entire Quest library with optional controllers. The Meta store will have a bunch of streaming apps going live later this year, from Disney+ to HBO Max and Hulu. There will also be sports events natively on the Meta VR Glasses.
7:50pm: There's a live demo, where someone is watching some National Geographic nature documentary. He then brings up his workpace, with the obligatory AI assistant. This one is a test pilot. He then gives a bunch of commands to Muse, and it legitimately takes it 20 seconds to respond. There will probably be more polish before it actually hits store shelves, though.
