A new free update has been announced for Disney Dreamlight Valley, and developer Gameloft is bringing content that should appeal to players looking to celebrate Halloween. Since its early access launch in 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley has received a steady stream of content, including free goodies for all players and paid DLC updates. This has given the developer opportunities to add several major characters spanning various Disney properties.
Disney Dreamlight Valley's next paid expansion arrives in November, and it will add Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. The Keepsake Sea will take players on an adventure in the ocean, allowing them to grow fins and swim with Ariel, or explore with Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire. There are still a lot of details yet to be revealed, but Gameloft plans on divulging a lot more during a showcase on October 21.
On September 23, Disney Dreamlight Valley will receive a new update known as Season of Scares. The big addition this time around is Oogie Boogie, the central antagonist from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Disney Dreamlight Valley previously added Jack and Sally, and Gameloft clearly isn't done with the film. In addition to Oogie Boogie, Season of Scares will be adding Zero as a companion. The update will include six weeks' worth of challenges, with different rewards for completing them. After the final week of challenges, players will be able to invite Oogie Boogie to join the Valley.
The arrival of Oogie Boogie was previously confirmed, and it was known that there would be a September update thanks to a previous Disney Dreamlight Valley roadmap. However, Gameloft has offered much more information about what to expect, including some interesting details about Oogie Boogie. For one thing, there is a time constraint tied to the character. Players must start his first quest prior to November 4 in order to add him to the Valley. If players miss the deadline, the character will return, but not until sometime around Halloween 2027. As long as players have started the first quest by that date, they will be able to complete the rest of the challenges at their own pace.
The limited-time nature of Oogie Boogie's arrival has already led to some frustration among players. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a hugely popular movie, and the idea of locking a character for those that miss the deadline is proving somewhat controversial. Hopefully, players that want Oogie Boogie in their Village won't have a problem starting the event before the end date, so they can make sure that they can see the villain interacting with Jack and Sally once again.
Following Season of Scares, Disney Dreamlight Valley will have at least one more free update before the year comes to an end. Lilo will be added in an update set to be released in December, which will see the character reunited with her pal, Stitch. Stitch has been in Disney Dreamlight Valley for quite a while, but his best pal will finally make her debut. It's not unusual for Disney Dreamlight Valley to space out characters from the same movie or franchise, but it's safe to assume that a lot of players have wanted to see Lilo added to the game before this point.
