Astromechs are unlike any other operators in Star Wars Zero Company. You don't have access to them right away, and you have to jump through an extra hoop to get them. Once you have them, it isn't immediately obvious how you can get the most utility out of them either.
Here's everything you need to know about how to unlock astromechs in Star Wars Zero Company, and how to use them during missions.
Astromechs are those adorable R2-D2-like droids you see across Star Wars media. Here, they've been adapted to fit into Star Wars Zero Company's XCOM-like combat.
Unlike all of the other operators, astromechs have no primary fire. They can only attack by sending out mines and tossing grenades. Otherwise, they are completely support-based, buffing teammates and giving them additional AP.
Astromechs also tend to have more movement than other operators. On top of that, they can fly up to rooftops that others can only get to if there's a ladder.
As you'll quickly notice, there's a broken-down astromech in The Den. Interact with it, and Hawks should say something about repairing the droid when you have the credits.
From there, you have to wait until you have access to the upgrades terminal early on in the campaign. Once you do, spend some credits to build the droid repair bay.
In the next cycle (after completing a mission), the droid repair bay will be up and running. You will now have access to an astromech, BR-1.
