With Double Fine leaving Xbox Game Studios and going independent once again, we've been interested to learn the fate of their most recent release - the pottery-based multiplayer brawler known as Kiln.
Good news! Not only is Kiln definitely not finished yet, but it's just released its biggest update of all time! The Bisque Update introduces a new creative game mode called "Daily Throw" where you can "challenge your creativity and skill on the wheel", along with loads of other features such as weekly quests, a new pot journal and expanded collection, a new level cap and the ability to set up custom games in up to eight-player parties.

"We can't promise specifics, since we’re in the wild west world of indies now, but we’re working on several things for our next update including new ways to play, and a new way for you to connect and save your account. We have so appreciated everyone's support in the last few months. Everyone asking after Kiln has been so incredibly patient, and we cannot thank you all enough for your love of our pottery party brawler."
In addition, Kiln has now received a permanent price drop down to $7.99 USD for the standard edition and $9.99 USD for the Fired Up Edition. These are described as "brand new indie prices", and the studio confirms that the funds from buying the game will now "go directly to helping keep Double Fine alive".
There are also a couple of new Decoration Packs based around Psychonauts 2 and "Sun and Surf" if you're interested, with the Sun and Surf one being completely free and the Psychonauts 2 DLC retailing at just $1.99 USD.
It's great to see Double Fine hasn't given up on this game, as I personally had quite a lot of fun with it back at launch, despite suggesting that it might struggle in the longevity department without a regular stream of new content. This massive update and permanent price drop might be exactly what it needs to enjoy a mini resurgence in late 2026.
