Gojo Satoru, the strongest modern sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami, dreamed of changing the sorcerer society. To that end, he decided to raise the next generation of sorcerers and, as such, had many intriguing successors lined up. For the vast majority of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo led by example. However, in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236, released officially on September 24, 2023, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 43, Gojo met his end at the hands of the King of Curses, Sukuna.
Following the fall of Gojo, someone else had to fill his boots. Now, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 3 has officially confirmed to us that his strongest successor after his death was none other than Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the series and the man whom Gojo entrusted everything to moments before his death.
Gojo Satoru was incredibly powerful and rightly stood as the strongest modern sorcerer, with Ryomen Sukuna being his only equal in the story. His strength was truly unparalleled in the modern era, but there were quite a few students of Gojo who held the potential to rival him in the future. Gojo himself stated at one point that the likes of Kinji Hakari, Yuta Okkotsu, Yuji Itadori, as well as Megumi Fushiguro, held the potential to one day reach his level. Gojo also stated quite clearly that the next generation of sorcerers would not be limited to just Special Grade and would actually manage to go beyond that. While this plot point was not exactly expanded upon by Gege Akutami, the groundwork for the next generation to surpass Gojo was certainly there.
Having raised a very talented generation, Gojo was eventually surpassed by none other than Yuji Itadori. In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 3, released officially in Japan on May 1, 2026, Gege Akutami revealed a lot of exciting information, among which he also confirmed to us that, in the new era, Yuji Itadori officially obtained the title of “The Strongest.” Furthermore, Yuji was also classified as a Special Grade Sorcerer, just like Gojo Satoru himself, making him the most qualified and strongest successor of the former Limitless user. With the power of the Shrine Cursed Technique, alongside Blood Manipulation, the ability to hit Black Flashes at will, and the immense capability of staying in his prime for over a century, Yuji Itadori became a monster that filled in Gojo's shoes perfectly and led the next generation by example.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapters 19 and 20, released officially on January 26 and February 2, 2026, respectively, showed us Yuji's capabilities in combat as an adult. Both of these chapters confirmed to us that Yuji Itadori had reached the next level of strength that hardly anyone else could rival. In Modulo Chapter 19, Yuji Itadori showed the power of Blood Manipulation, which he had fully mastered. This chapter confirmed to us that Yuji was the strongest user of Blood Manipulation to have ever lived in the world of JJK. The subsequent chapter showed Yuji utilizing Sukuna's Shrine to perfection. In fact, it can be said that Yuji has mastered Shrine even more than Sukuna himself.
