The PlayStation 5 version of “hyper-realistic driving” game BeamNG.drive will launch in Early Access on October 19, developer BeamNG announced.
BeamNG.drive first launched in Early Access for PC on May 29, 2015. It is available via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Humble Store.
Here is an overview of the game, via BeamNG:
With its unique soft-body physics engine, PlayStation 5 players will be able to simulate every component of a vehicle in real time. Explore expansive open-world environments, experiment with a vast selection of customizable vehicles, and create your own true-to-life driving experiences.
BeamNG.drive arrives on PlayStation 5 around the same time as the version 0.40 update comes to its PC version. The game receives consistent free updates every few months, offering numerous improvements year after year. Aside from visual improvements and other general fixes, this specific update delivers a brand-new vehicle available from day one, local split-screen support, FSR 3 support on base PlayStation 5, and PlayStation Super Spectral Resolution support on PlayStation 5 Pro.
A sidenote on Mod Support. In general, BeamNG aims to achieve feature parity across platforms where possible. Mod support for PlayStation will not be available at launch: supporting mods on console is a unique challenge, and while the possibilities are being explored, the timing and scope cannot be confirmed at this stage. Mod authoring tools, such as the World Editor, are not currently planned for PlayStation.
