It's a harsh world in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Between the vampires, monsters, bandits, and overly murderous soldiers, it seems like everything is out to kill you. Because of this, you'll want as much of an advantage as possible to ensure you can actually deal with these constant threats to your unlife.
Thankfully, there are a few early-game weapons you can acquire that are great for when you're just starting out and can easily carry you through some pretty tough fights. If you're looking to snag some solid swords early on, here is where to find some of the best early-game weapons in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Our first weapon is one you can snag right after the Prologue when the main gate to your home village of Laslea Glen is cleared. Once that happens, follow the path in town east (shown above) until you reach a small house that is being raided by bandits. These enemies are not to be underestimated, as they do a decent amount of damage since you won't have leveled up much by now.
There's also a mini-boss, which is just a bigger, slower bandit. Try to thin out the herd of weaker grunts first before focusing on their leader. His attacks are quite easy to parry; just keep an eye on the shield icon and block right before the strike connects. This will give you a nice opening to hit him a few times before you need to block again.
Also, don't forget to make use of your Voracious Bite ability. This will let you both damage an enemy while healing a bit of health, which can be really crucial for some of these very early fights when you're weak. Regardless, once all the bandits are dead, head inside the house and collect the treasure map on the table.
Examining the treasure map will show you that you should follow the path east and then south of the Outlaw's Gorge shrine; you will find the buried treasure (location shown above). Unfortunately, this chest is also guarded, but this time by a large bear. Thankfully, the bear is also fairly easy to deal with, so long as you don't get caught by its frontal unblockable attack.
This move deals a comical amount of damage and has a good chance of killing you if your health is around half. Instead, play defensively and use your Shadowstep ability to warp behind the bear during this move. Doing so will give you several seconds of free damage before the beast reorients itself back to facing you.
Once the bear is dead, look for the mound of dirt right by the bear's cave and pick up the shovel next to it. Digging up this treasure chest will take a single segment of time, and you'll be rewarded with the Polished Long Cleaver, 100 Denarius, Gold Earrings, and Recipe for Minor Fortitude Paste. This is a longsword that does 115 damage, making it one of the strongest early-game weapons that you can use until you hit around Level 12–13.
