The parents of Pokemon creator Averythepokekid have thanked his community for helping him live out his dreams as he enters hospice care following years of cancer treatment.
Avery creates content around opening Pokemon packs and collecting cards. His parents, Christian and Rebecca, say the hobby has given him something to look forward to during hospital visits and difficult days.
In an Instagram update, Avery’s parents confirmed he had transitioned to hospice after nearly eight years of fighting the disease. They also thanked the people who have supported him and helped make his dreams possible.

“You have helped our little boy live out dreams bigger than he ever imagined,” they wrote.
The family credited supporters with giving Avery a community that loves him, acknowledging the role those connections have played throughout his journey.
According to the fundraiser, Avery was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatoblastoma, a rare form of pancreatic cancer. He underwent extensive surgery in 2019 and has continued to need medical care and frequent hospital visits.
His parents said he has also used his love of Pokemon to support other children. During hospital visits, Avery brings cards to share, opens packs with other kids and gives cards away to offer them the same excitement and distraction he finds in collecting.
