The Pokemon Trading Card Game is reportedly releasing its first Valentine’s Day set, complete with a special box that can be transformed into a mailbox.
According to a report from PokeBeach, a new Pokemon TCG Valentine’s Box is set to release on January 27, ahead of Valentine’s Day in February.
Each box will reportedly include 20 Valentine’s Day mini booster packs, with three Pokemon TCG cards inside each one. The packs are also set to include five sheets of stickers.
The packaging itself appears to be part of the fun, as PokeBeach says that the box can be converted into a mailbox. While its exact purpose hasn’t been confirmed, the design would allow younger fans to use it for collecting Valentine’s cards from their classmates.
There’s no word yet on exactly which Pokemon will feature in the packs, and images of the product haven’t been revealed. However, it bears some similarities to Pokemon TCG’s existing Trick or Trade products released around Halloween.
Those collections also use smaller three-card booster packs intended to be given away, rather than the traditional boosters players would normally purchase for themselves.
Previous Halloween sets have featured pools of 30 spooky-themed cards, including the likes of Gengar, Ghastly, and Haunter, complete with a special Pikachu pumpkin stamp.
PokeBeach speculates that the Valentine’s release could follow a similar approach, potentially offering a selection of reprinted cards centered around a love theme and featuring its own unique stamp.
