Developer Polyphony Digital has just added another major update to Gran Turismo 7, the studio's now 4-year-old racing game. Along with a handful of new cars and track events, Gran Turismo 7's latest update has brought some significant changes to the game's physics systems, its force feedback system for racing wheels, and a variety of other gameplay areas.
Released back in March 2022, Gran Turismo 7 received a generally very positive reception from critics upon its debut. On OpenCritic, Gran Turismo 7 earned a Top Critic Average of 87 and a critic recommendation score of 92%. In GameRant's Gran Turismo 7 review, Dalton Cooper gave the racing game an 8/10, warning players about potential microtransaction issues but generally praising the racing game experience itself.
Over four years after launch, Gran Turismo 7 is still receiving updates, and this latest August update is a substantial one. Gran Turismo 7's August 2026 update adds four new cars to the game, including two Toyota Tourer Vs, a Hyundai IONIQ 6, and a Caterham Seven Superlight R500. Three new events have been added to GT7's World Circuits, and a new course layout has been added to the Circuit Experience mode. A handful of new interactions have also been added to Gran Turismo 7's Cafe, with them triggering whenever players equip one of the update's new cars.

But while this new content is very welcome, it's the changes to Gran Turismo 7's physics simulation model that are really going to impact the popular PlayStation racing game. Suspension and steering, engine torque control, and the tire physics algorithm have all been significantly adjusted in this latest GT7 update, changing the steering geometry for each car, how tires react when slipping, and the throttle control characteristics when drifting.
This Gran Turismo 7 August 2026 update has also brought some sweeping balancing changes to the game. The "parameters of each individual car" have been adjusted, along with the number of Performance Points assigned to them. The maximum engine RPM for six cars has been rebalanced as well, as has the gear shift-up simulation on two vehicles, and the fuel consumption on another two. Driving Assistance settings have also been tweaked with this update, with Traction Control assist and Anti-Lock Brakes both receiving optimization.
