A pure-gold Gholdengo and a life-size gold leaf Pikachu have been revealed as part of Pokemon’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Nothing says you’ve made it in life quite like owning your own pure-gold Gholdengo – well, either that or this life-size $8,000 anime girl statue (I don’t judge). Unlike the latter, though, the Steel/Ghost Pokemon won’t raise any awkward questions.
While the bipedal creature is famously made up of 1,000 Gimmighoul Coins, The Pokemon Company has given Gholdengo the gold glow-up it deserves.
Starting September 30th, fans in Japan can flex their love for the string cheese-looking Pokemon with a 15g gold Gholdengo figure and by visiting a life-size gold leaf statue of the fan-favorite monster.
The Gholdengo figure stands at 6cm tall and weighs approximately 15g, and will set back trainers a whopping ¥1,540,000 (around $9,797). According to the translated press release, the premium merch represents Gholdengo’s Good as Gold Ability, which famously gives the creature full immunity to other Pokemon’s status moves.
That’s not all either, as fans can also see a life-size Gholdengo statue that has been made using approximately 730 sheets of gold leaf. While not as pricey as the smaller version, the realistic Gholdengo stands approximately 3.9 feet tall (120cm).
No Pokemon exhibition would be complete without Pikachu showing its face, so the electric mouse also has its own life-like statue. The little rodent has been created using 200 sheets of gold leaf and stands approximately 19.7 inches tall (50cm).
