You trigger the Gilded Gauntlet Side Quest when you visit Maragir village after fully angering Ambrus in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Coen finds the villagers gathering around a corpse Ambrus has displayed for the public. A servant will explain that Ambrus is going to keep killing people until Coen agrees to duel with Ambrus. She reveals her name later and admits that her master, Iulian Cordin, sent her to inform Coen that he wishes to speak with him.
The Gilded Gauntlet Side Quest can branch into another Side Quest, called The Bittersweet Toast, if you choose to help Iulian Cordin with his Quest. However, you can, at any time, accept Ambrus' duel and continue the Gilded Gauntlet Quest, which will end The Bittersweet Toast Quest if you didn't complete it before accepting the duel.
Right after getting the Gilded Gauntlet Quest, a servant will approach Coen and explain that her master, Iulian Cordin, wants to speak with him. Here, you have two choices:
Accepting Cordin's invitation will generate two new choices: to let the servant lead you to him or to make your own way to Iulian. Letting the servant lead you to him will consume one hour, while going there yourself also consumes an hour when you interact with Iulian. Choosing the second option will cause the servant to give Coen Iulian Cordin's location in case he changes his mind.
During the conversation with Iulian Cordin, he tells Coen that Coen can't defeat Ambrus on his own. He explains that Ambrus has his own personal blood cows, which he feeds on before every duel. Iulian continues that he knows exactly which victim Ambrus is going to feed on before his duel with Coen, and poisoning that victim will bring Coen closer to victory. Here, there are two important choices:
Choosing the first option will start The Bittersweet Toast Side Quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Completing that Quest will add new choices to the Gilded Gauntlet Side Quest. As for choosing the second option, Iulian will insist it's the right thing to do before he tells Coen to come back if he ever changes his mind. Interacting with Iulian after that will present only the first option, which will branch into The Bittersweet Toast Quest.
After you're done with Iulian, you have two ways to approach the Gilded Gauntlet Quest. If you completed The Bittersweet Toast Quest, you have a few days to accept the duel, or Iulian Cordin will die. If you haven't completed The Bittersweet Toast Quest, you can choose any time to initiate the duel.
To progress the Gilded Gauntlet Quest, you need to go to the quest's location and ring the bell there, which will consume two time segments, or hours. After ringing the bell, Ambrus will show up with several soldiers and Iulian Cordin. The beginning of the conversation isn't important, as it's just both Coen and Ambrus trading insults.
