Arc Raiders’ new PvE toggle is live, but players are already using it to explore the Rust Belt in unexpected ways.
Whether you agree with it or not, Arc Raiders' PvE toggle is finally here. While some Raiders are undoubtedly enjoying exploring without the constant threat of hostile players, others are using the new mode in an unexpected way. Ironically, taking other players out of the equation hasn't stopped some people from preparing for their next firefight.
Embark Studios is pushing out the latest Arc Raiders update, kicking off the PvE toggle beta test. Running until October 20, the trial lets players experience Arc Raiders without any instances of PvP skirmishes. Embark is pinning the feature's future on community feedback and in-game data, so this is your chance to see whether it deserves a permanent place in the extraction shooter's arsenal.
However, players are already approaching it in ways you might not expect. As Rust Belt adventurer 'SixthSacrifice' notes, early adopters of the PvE playlist are practicing PvP encounters, taking advantage of the reduced pressure. It's kind of poetic, considering how much the Arc Raiders community has consistently fought against the idea of this playlist's mere existence. To me, it's less an affirmation that the mode should stay, and more a confirmation that it needs a social hub.
Just take us to Speranza properly, Embark. Elsewhere, others have a more lucrative plan. YouTuber 'itsDkal' is capturing players waiting for fellow Raiders to arrive on the new map carrying keys that unlock valuable loot rooms. "This new PvE mode in Arc is so stupid. Everyone just waits outside the keyroom like vultures for you to use your key," he vents in a recent social media post.
Of course, there's a certain irony to players finding ways to create their own social encounters in a mode intended to remove one of Arc Raiders' biggest sources of tension. Update 2.1 also brings a lengthy list of fixes, including quieter outdoor footsteps, improved Grappling Hook traversal, and collision improvements across several maps. Embark has also addressed various gameplay issues affecting skills, weapons, and performance.
The PvE toggle remains a beta feature, with the test ending later this month. If you've been waiting for a less hostile way to explore Arc Raiders, now's the time to try it.
