We've already talked about how September and October have been ridiculously busy for new releases this year (primarily due to GTA 6 stealing the spotlight for November), and if the publisher of Valor Mortis is to be believed, it's actually led to them reducing the price of their upcoming Xbox Game Pass title to avoid getting lost in the shuffle.
In a statement published yesterday, the team explained that they believe they can complete alongside many "full price" releases, but they're concerned about the "stacked" fall lineup and how "there's high demand for your time and money". As a result, they've decided to price the game at $39.99 from day one.
However, there is also a Deluxe Edition for $59.99 that includes story DLC launching next year.
"We believe the game has the quality, fidelity, and playtime in its 20-hour story to go toe-to-toe with many "full price" titles. Still, this Fall is stacked and there's high demand for your time and money. That's why Valor Mortis is launching on October 13 at $39.99 / €39.99 / 149.99 zł."
It'll hopefully end up being a highlight of October's XGP lineup as well, as the game certainly looks stunning in its trailers and screenshots so far, and it's being developed by the team behind the excellent Ghostrunner games.
We'll leave you with a few more details on Valor Mortis below, and look out for it in a few weeks' time!
Valor Mortis is a first-person action soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. Rise from death as a former soldier of Napoleon’s army. Wield supernatural powers, battle horrifying monsters, and unravel a conspiracy that threatens all of humanity.
You are William, a soldier of the Grande Armée brought back from a battlefield grave. But the Europe you awaken to is not the one you sacrificed for. A mysterious plague now sweeps the continent, and you have been reborn with its corrupting power pulsing through your veins.
