Magic’s Marvel Super Heroes set is actually pretty great, and all four of its Commander precons are worth a look for existing players and newcomers alike.
We’ve already covered how you can get all four decks for an all-time low price, but if you’re just interested in the Fantastic Four precon, you can pick it up at a great discount all on its own. Amazon has slashed the price by 31%, meaning it’s now just over $51 instead of $75.
As you may have guessed, the precon itself is built around the fearsome quartet, and uses every color in Magic except for Black. At $75 it’s pretty steep, but at $50, it’s a fun deck to experiment with given its modular nature.
While you can put any Legendary Creature in the Command Zone, the idea is that you pick either The Thing, Human Torch, The Invisible Woman, or Mr Fantastic, and each has its own unique playstyle.
I’ve had games pop off with the Human Torch since it gains double strike, flying, and haste when you play noncreature spells prior to combat, while Invisible Woman helps you create defensive walls in the same way.
The Thing is a 5/5 with Trample, and a noncreature spell gets him four +1/+1 counters, which he can then double, while Mr Fantastic gets card draw and ability copies.
As you can imagine, if you have all four on the battlefield and then cast a noncreature spell, things go off considerably, and they all feed into each other.
It’s a fun deck, and there are some neat reprints in there such as Seize the Day, Quantum Misalignment, and Three Visits, among others.
