During Nintendo's special Legend of Zelda broadcast, a special version of the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 game was announced, though it'll only be available for a limited time. It's an exciting time to be a fan of the franchise as Nintendo had plenty to reveal regarding The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake during a special 40th anniversary broadcast.
Nintendo surprised many fans when it announced dual direct events for this week. The double feature of The Legend of Zelda and Nintendo Directs sent fan expectations wild, as they tried to predict and theorize what the company could be announcing. In terms of the former, many were anticipating to finally see the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, either with a new trailer or with a deeper dive into the game and its many updates. As fans now know, Nintendo pulled the curtain back on the Ocarina of Time, confirming so many details like the release date, price, and even a special version of the game.
As promised, Nintendo spent around 30 minutes fully diving into The Legend of Zelda franchise's 40th Anniversary. Kicking things off with an orchestra playing some iconic tunes, Nintendo touched upon the upcoming Zelda movie and a concert series, but spent most of the time showcasing the highly anticipated Ocarina of Time remake. Following a lengthy gameplay demonstration by producer Aiji Aonuma, Nintendo ended the broadcast with a brand-new trailer for the game, which ended with a special Textured Foil version of the game.

Similar to the focus on the tapestry from the first Ocarina of Time teaser trailer, the Textured Foil Cover Art is a special version of the game, giving the cover art a unique look and feel. Nintendo confirmed that the special version of the game will only be available for as long as supplies last. It stands to reason that once the supply is gone, there won't be anymore made, so collectors and fans will likely want to pre-order a copy sooner than later to ensure they secure that version when the game launches on November 5, 2026.
Alongside the Textured Foil cover, Nintendo also confirmed a recent Legend of Zelda leak during the presentation as well. A unique Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console, Pro Controller, and carrying case were revealed during the Zelda Direct. The trio of items are set to launch on October 29, 2026, and feature special designs and colorways including the Triforce, green and gold highlights, as well as special NEX pixel versions of Link and Zelda on the console. The Pro Controller and carry case both feature the 40th Anniversary Triforce logo, and a mix of black, green, and gold colors to help them stand out. The Nintendo Store and its New York and San Francisco locations will also be exclusively selling a display stand for the Pro Controller as well.
For people who want even more Legend of Zelda goodies, Nintendo also revealed two special Amiibo figures of the Ocarina of Time remake versions of Young Link and Young Princess Zelda. Both figures are planned to launch in 2027, so fans will have to wait a bit to get their hands on them. However, when used while playing the game, they'll unlock special masks that can be worn in-game, inspired by Zelda and Link's more polygonal look inside of the original Nintendo 64 version.
