Unlike GTA 6, Ocarina Of Time Is Getting A Fully Physical Release

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake finally offered a gameplay showcase during the latest Nintendo Direct, allowing fans to get an even closer look at the upcoming release. On top of all the gameplay changes and visual overhauls shown in the trailers, we also got some major details when it comes to the actual release of Ocarina of Time itself.

Unlike the controversial release of Grand Theft Auto 6 with its digital-only editions, Nintendo's Ocarina of Time remake will not only be launched as a day-one physical release, but will also include a fancy alternative special edition for collectors to enjoy at no extra cost.

As shown in the post shared by NerdiestPod on X, the entirety of Ocarina of Time will be fully playable on a physical cartridge on release, with the first print run pre-orders getting an exclusive foil version on the case that is blowing the pathetically empty box of GTA 6 out of the water.

While Nintendo was a bit vague when it comes to how the foil edition sales will work, fans that have spoken to Nintendo Support on Reddit have received official responses saying that the special edition will be guaranteed for those who pre-order the game now, whereas future prints will only get the standard physical edition.

Although a physical copy of Ocarina of Time will set you back an additional $10 compared to the digital, the tactile foil version is an excellent incentive that has already received plenty of praise for how it looks, pairing well with the new Switch 2 design and Zelda-themed accessories.

Despite facing controversy over virtual game cards in the past, Nintendo has received plenty of praise over their continued push for physical games after Sony's heavily criticized decision to cut physical releases altogether in the next few years, with fans using it as a chance to mock the upcoming release of GTA 6.

Adding even more fuel to the fire is the fact that, despite costing a staggering $30 more for the full version of GTA 6 compared to Ocarina of Time, both standard and deluxe editions don't even come with a physical copy whatsoever, but simply an empty box with a code.

As if that wasn't enough of a reason to poke fun at Rockstar's upcoming sequel, the Switch 2 release of Ocarina of Time will supposedly even run at a whopping 60 frames-per-second at 4K resolution, offering a far smoother experience than GTA 6's 30 FPS on the base PlayStation 5.
