Nintendo surprised us with a Pikmin-themed Direct this weekend, announcing Pikmin Day! If you haven't already watched the video, here's everything from the broadcast:
Joining MAR10 Day and other events such as Pokémon Day, is Pikmin Day! This will be an annual event every year on 1st November. Miyamoto explained how this came about:
Shigeru Miyamoto: "We're going to start calling November 1st, Pikmin Day. In the first Pikmin game, released on Nintendo GameCube in 2001, the red, blue and yellow Pikmin made their debut. If you imagine those three Pikmin as the number one, that makes November 1st, Pikmin Day!"
A free demo of Pikmin 4 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy is out 2nd November 2026. It will include the game's opening area Sun-speckled Terrace, along with two stages of Dandori Academy. Save data will also transfer over to the full game.
Nintendo also provided a quick rundown about the features coming in the Switch 2 Edition of Pikmin 4.
This includes voice commands for Oatchi with the built-in system mic. And then there's the new mode, Dandori Academy, where you'll take on challenges, collect the treasure, and take an exam. You'll receive medals based on your performance.
