The Epic Games Store has officially revealed Astral Ascent and Luftrausers as its free games for September 10. The promotional pair will become the 65th and 66th freebies that Epic Games Store users have been able to claim in 2026.
Both titles will replace Alone With You, which Epic just launched as its latest weekly free title on September 3. In other words, Luftrausers and Ascent make up the platform's first dual giveaway since August.
Both freebies technically qualify as day-one releases, but only in the sense that the September 10 giveaway coincides with their Epic Games Store debuts. In reality, both are much older: Astral Ascent left early access in mid-November 2023, while Luftrausers is officially 12 years old as of March 18, 2026. The kind-of-day-one duo will be free to claim through September 17, offering a combined $34.98 in value based on their regular retail prices on other platforms.
Developed by Hibernian Workshop, Astral Ascent is a 2D action-platformer roguelite set inside the Garden, an astral prison guarded by 12 bosses known as the Zodiacs. Players choose between four heroes, combine dozens of spells during their escape attempts, and can play either solo or in two-player local co-op. With an 84 average score on OpenCritic, Astral Ascent is definitively one of the highest-rated platformers of 2023. Its PC player reception appears to have been even stronger, with the game holding an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam as of early September 2026, based on more than 1,800 reviews.
Luftrausers is a satisfying score-chasing arcade shooter developed by Dutch studio Vlambeer and published by indie powerhouse Devolver Digital. Its core loop centers on taking customizable fighter planes into increasingly chaotic battles against enemy aircraft, battleships, submarines, and rival aces. Players can mix weapons, bodies, and propulsion systems to create more than 125 aircraft configurations while completing over 100 missions. The rewards for overcoming levels range from components to various color schemes, both underlining the game's focus on personalization and tinkering. More than 12 years since its original launch, Luftrausers nowadays holds a 91% positive rating on Steam, derived from more than 2,500 player reviews.
