Physical copies of Metroid Ravenous for Nintendo Switch 2 are now $10 off at Walmart, following the discounts provided to other recent Nintendo preorders such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. That brings the game down to $59.88, over $10 off the original MSRP of $69.99.
Preorders for Metroid Ravenous went live not long after its standout trailer during the recent Nintendo Direct. There's been plenty of excitement since, and we've even seen preorders for the Metroid Ravenous Special Edition completely sell out in minutes across most retailers since the reveal.
But $10 off the standard edition of the game isn't a bad consolation prize if you were unable to secure a preorder for the special edition.
Yet, what's the deal with the immediate $10 discount at Walmart? Well, it's actually fairly simple. As is Nintendo's custom for this console generation, the MSRP for the game is $59.99 for digital copies and $69.99 for physical copies.
We've seen the same thing with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and Switch Sports Resort, among others. It's a pretty easy way to save $10 if you're planning to buy a physical copy anyway.
Amazon has always price matched the deal every single time, so you can also preorder there as well.
The only thing to bear in mind is that these discounts are generally tied to the preorder period. Once Metroid Ravenous actually releases, I wouldn't expect this $59.88 price to stick around.
At least there's no compromise with the physical release itself, either. Metroid Ravenous comes with the full game on the cartridge, so there's no game key card nonsense to deal with here.
