Following complaints that time-to-kill has been too quick in Modern Warfare 4, Infinity Ward have increased it by nerfing several weapons’ damage values.
Time-to-kill (TTK) has once again been a hotly debated topic in Call of Duty. MW19 and 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 were seen as too fast, lowering the skill gap, while some don’t like the longer gunfights of MW3 and the Black Ops games.
Modern Warfare 4’s beta arrived on August 21, and players immediately called out the quick TTK, but the devs have been addressing it.
In an update on August 23, Infinity Ward confirmed “Time-to-kill remains a focus,” and they’re “identifying weapons that are killing too fast and adjusting based on feedback and in-game data.”
Here, they nerfed damage multipliers and the range of some of the most popular weapons, and have now adjusted several weapons to raise the overall time-to-kill.
In this update on August 24, the devs confirmed, “We are deploying several more TTK changes and adjustments to locational multipliers (head, heck, torso, etc.)”
Now, meta weapons such as the Han 86, Kastov 762, PPSh-41, and MAR-9 will deal less damage to these areas. Not only that, but the devs also nerfed their damage range.
For example, the Han 86 will now only deal its max damage within 23.5 meters, as opposed to the 26.1 meters pre-patch.
