The World of Warcraft Forever beta has been incredibly popular, but just like any other, it has to come to an end as the full launch approaches. Thankfully, Blizzard has extended the beta by a couple of days.
WoW Forever's beta was supposed to end yesterday, October 20, but Blizzard announced on X/Twitter that it would be extending the experience by three days. Now the beta will end on October 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET. After it ends, Blizzard will open name reservations on October 27, which will let you reserve names for three different characters – just make sure they don't break the rules.
It's easy to forget that WoW Forever isn't just out already. Since the beta went live in September, people have been playing it constantly, and just among people playing the beta, there have already been a million characters made. Blizzard devs have even come out and said they were surprised by how many people flocked to the temporary test version of the Classic+ game mode.
Once the full game comes out on November 4, all you'll need to play WoW: Forever is an active subscription or a friend code (though that will just be temporary), so it'll likely be even more popular.
Fans have loved how true the content in the beta so far has stayed to the spirit of the early days of World of Warcraft. Blizzard has made it a point to avoid adding some modern quality-of-life improvements like shared tagging in order to maintain that classic feel. But, rather than strictly avoiding adding anything that was added after WoW's expansions started coming out, Blizzard has included content like the beloved 'Kyle's Gone Missing' quest that takes place in Mulgore.
There have been controversies, too, of course – it wouldn't be WoW without them. Blizzard has had to crack down hard on gold selling, and the company has also been strict with character names. We've even seen people griefing other players by putting down campfires where new players spawn so they die before the intro cinematic finishes.
If you haven't had a chance to dive into the beta yet, you still have a couple days to do so. But keep in mind that any progress you make will be deleted when the game launches in a couple of weeks.
