Personally I’m not a huge fan of co-op action games, even though I appreciate they’re enormously popular.
I mean, just look at Helldivers 2, it’s one of Sony’s biggest games ever – and I think a big part of that is because it’s co-op. (It’s also damn fun, of course, which matters too.)
I’ve no idea whether 1001 Threads of Mizan will hit to the same degree, but heck, an Arabian fantasy with magic carpet hoverboards sure has my attention piqued.
In the press release, creative director Lars Blonde says the underlying question the game aims to answer is, “What if you could experience an expansive adventure in the grand tradition of single player epics, but fully cooperatively with your friends?”
You’ll face off against giant jinn enemies in one-to-three player bouts, which make traversal a key tenet of combat, as you scale your giant enemies to bring them down.
The game’s being made by MCB Game Studio, a new studio made up of veterans, including ex-Bungie, Ubisoft, and BioWare employees.
The team’s got pedigree and a big budget, then – let’s see where this project leads.
