The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has been announced, and CD Projekt has now clarified how upgrades will work for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game.

Players who own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt digitally on Nintendo Switch are already able to place a free pre-order for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2. But those who own physical copies are not able to pre-order the new remaster.
CD Projekt Red has now made an official statement to ease the concerns of physical owners, stating the following on social media:
For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt owners looking to upgrade to the Remastered version for Nintendo Switch 2: if you own the game digitally, you can now pre-order the Remastered version for free on Nintendo eShop. If you own a physical copy, don’t worry - you’ll be able to claim the…
“For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt owners looking to upgrade to the Remastered version for Nintendo Switch 2: if you own the game digitally, you can now pre-order the Remastered version for free on Nintendo eShop. If you own a physical copy, don’t worry – you’ll be able to claim the free upgrade when Remastered launches on September 29.”
Fans replying to the statement were broadly positive, with one stating, “OMG, a gaming company that is consumer friendly? Is this real? CD Projekt Red is such a great example for other gaming companies.”
Many others were asking for physical releases for the remaster on PS5 and Switch 2, though no announcement has been made regarding physical versions.
