The Ace Archer: Mount Oe story quest in Onimusha: Way of the Sword asks you to find and defeat five Kubi Akari scattered around Mount Oe. The first two Kubi Akari are relatively easy to spot as you follow the main route, but the other three can be confusing for most players to find. They are located in the Futasegawa Mountain Stream area, which does not have its own Spirit Mirror. This makes them difficult to locate from the fast travel menu, even though the quest marker seems to point you in the right direction. The Ace Archer: Mount Oe story quest requires you to hunt five Kubi Akari around Mount Oe. Like other Ace Archer quests, this one is also given by an NPC in Shijo Street. Talk to the man to start the mission. Your objective is simply listed as Hunt the Kubi Akari at Mount Oe.
Finding all five Kubi Akari is not quite as simple as following the quest marker. The first two Kubi Akari are found along the route through the Castle Courtyard area. The remaining three are tucked away in Futasegawa Mountain Stream.
The last three Kubi Akari are the tricky ones because the game does not make their location especially obvious from the fast travel menu. There are no notebook icon markers for them.
Open the Spirit Mirror fast travel menu and select Mount Oe. Next, select Cave I. The quest marker on the map is actually pointing toward the Futasegawa Mountain Stream area transition icon, and the Cave I Spirit Mirror is right next to the route leading there.
After selecting Cave I, look for the cave path to the left of the Spirit Mirror shrine. Follow this path through the cave. You will eventually emerge into the Futasegawa Mountain Stream area, where you will run into the section with the tumbling logs.
Once you reach this area, open your map. You can now see the locations of the remaining Kubi Akari and use their markers to guide you through the area.
You can defeat the five targets in any order, so you do not have to follow a particular route. However, following the route below makes it easier to reach all five without unnecessary backtracking.
