The Switch 2 Pro controller is arguably the best gamepad for the Switch 2 console, but not everyone wants to pay $90 for it. Instead, why not consider the original Switch Pro controller - which has identical build quality and ergonomics and nearly the same feature set - for nearly half the price?
Amazon Relsale is selling used "like new" Nintendo Switch Pro controllers for just $48.12 after an automatic 15% discount is applied during checkout. Amazon Resale is Amazon's official outlet for used items. Amazon states that this "Like New" item "looks and functions as if it were new and comes in original packaging." You still get the 30-day Amazon return policy so it's a much safer option than buying a used controller off Facebook Marketplace.
Most importantly, the Switch Pro controller is compatible with the Switch 2. Cosmetically, the Switch Pro and Switch 2 Pro controller look nearly the same apart from the color: the Switch Pro is smoke gray and the Switch 2 Pro is black. Both feature the same excellent build quality and heft that sets this controller apart from most other third party controllers.
Despite the fact that it's compatible, there are some features the original Switch Pro lacks. The Switch Pro controller cannot wake the console up, so you'll have to manually power it on. The Switch Pro controller doesn't have the two rear paddle switches, GameChat button, and headphone jack that the Switch 2 Pro has. Although the Switch Pro controller supports HD rumble with haptic feedback, the new Switch 2 Pro controller has upgraded "HD Rumble 2".
So in total, the Switch 2 Pro is a better controller. But the Switch 2 Pro controller also costs $89 new and there's no Amazon Resale deal for it like there is with the original controller. It's your call whether or not the upgrades (and the fact that it's new) are worth paying nearly double the price.
