Michael's biggest crutch is his Shape Jump ability, but since he can only enter it by default when in the dark and unobserved, it's generally best to keep your eyes on him and make use of lights when possible. If Michael is pursuing you, or you see him out in the distance, keep eye contact with him. This way, he cannot shift into Shape Jump unless he uses his Reality Tear ability.
Likewise, Michael's biggest weakness is his base movement speed, but should he close the distance, it's often the end for any Resident or Civilian in his path.
