The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Adds Best Mechanic From Last Remake

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Adds Best Mechanic From Last Remake

Nintendo has finally given fans a proper look at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, and it has added an amazing feature from the last time the company revived the game for modern platforms.

While Nintendo fans have seemingly been demanding an Ocarina of Time remake since the GameCube era, they often forget that it has already received one. Nintendo released an Ocarina of Time remake for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2011, which not only improved the visuals, but added a ton of much-needed quality-of-life features.

New information about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was finally announced during the series' 40th anniversary Direct, including its release date. What many fans might have missed is that it added one of the most useful features from the 3DS version, something that was impossible in the Nintendo 64 original.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 has added the motion controls from the 3DS version, allowing players to aim with the gyroscope features of the Joy-Con 2s. In the original game, players could only aim using the joystick, but now they can do so by physically moving the controller for more precise shots.

The addition of motion controls might seem small, but it's incredibly useful in a game where many enemies have to be taken down using a Slingshot, Bow, or Hookshot. The original version of Ocarina of Time wanted to show off the game's massive 3D world, so Nintendo made sure the player had plenty of chances to aim within that space and take down flying or wall-crawling foes.

The trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake showed off a lot of things that might seem like basic QoL features, like jumping, camera controls, and a quest log. For people who have only played the Nintendo 64 original, these seemingly standard inclusions are a godsend, and will make the game a lot more enjoyable to play.

It's unclear whether The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has taken any other content from the 3DS version, such as the tutorial stones that guided the player if they were lost. Hopefully, the remake has kept the changes the 3DS version made to the Water Temple, which is one of the most infamously frustrating dungeons in the video game industry, but was made a lot more manageable and featured less backtracking than before.
