One Piece: Strongest Old Generation Characters, Ranked

The world of One Piece has introduced us to many powerful characters, and Eiichiro Oda, the creator, loves to showcase old characters who still hold onto a certain level of strength. Be it the Marineford arc or any other post-time-skip arc that we have seen, Eiichiro Oda has thrown a lot of focus on the old generation of characters, both from the side of the Navy and the Pirates. These characters, despite being far from their primes, still showcase incredible might and are strong enough to rival the elites of the new era and, in some cases, even surpass them.

Out of all the old-generation characters that we have seen in One Piece, Sengoku is easily the weakest. Sengoku is the former Fleet Admiral of the Marines and one of the only two that we know to hold Conqueror's Haki. He is the user of Hito Hito no Mi, Model Daibutsu, a powerful Devil Fruit that allows him to turn into a giant golden Buddha. Sengoku's powers also allow him to produce giant shockwaves from the palms of his hands, and in Marineford, these shockwaves were seen to be strong enough to restrain the Blackbeard Pirates.

That said, Blackbeard was still able to fight back against his influence and match him with his newly acquired power. Sengoku was strong enough to earn praise from Roger himself, but it is clear that among all the old-generation characters that we have seen, he is by far the weakest. He was also not involved in the God Valley Incident, and his strength has never received as much hype as Garp's. Sengoku has also taken credit from Garp on various occasions, as was implied in Episode 0.

Rocks D. Xebec is one of the strongest old-generation legends to have existed in the world of One Piece, but also one of the most misunderstood ones. For the longest time, Rocks was believed to be the strongest old-generation character, but the most recent Elbaf arc confirmed to us that this was not the case.

Rocks ended up dying before his powers fully matured, and 38 years ago, in God Valley, he met his end at the hands of Nerona Imu. Rocks was already very strong at this point, being capable of killing an Admiral with ease and clashing evenly with the likes of Harald. He was eventually defeated by Garp and Roger despite being severely buffed up by Nerona Imu using Domi Reversi. Furthermore, in the years to come, the next-gen old-generation characters all grew stronger, leaving Rocks in the dust.

Harald was one of the strongest characters of the old era and was recently introduced in Elbaf. He possessed immense might and was powerful enough to match Rocks D. Xebec in combat. On his own, Harald and Xebec were neck and neck, but he was also given a Depths Covenant by Imu, which made him even stronger.

At his peak, he was almost unstoppable in combat, and even Gaban, who could use high-level Supreme King Haki, struggled to permanently put him down despite being able to overwhelm him in battle. Harald could have destroyed the entire world, and that makes him one of the strongest old-generation characters of all time.

Silvers Rayleigh is a legendary man known as the Dark King and one of the strongest characters in One Piece. Rayleigh does not have any Devil Fruit power and relies solely on his Haki. He is a master of Haki to a degree where he can even teach it to others like Luffy.
