Nintendo Switch 2 is Absolutely on Fire Right Now

The Nintendo Switch 2 is enjoying an impressive hot streak as of late, and it looks like Nintendo is going to keep the momentum going strong. The Nintendo Switch 2 hit the scene with a solid lineup of launch titles, including acclaimed third-party games like Cyberpunk 2077 and popular exclusives like Mario Kart World. Nintendo has continued to release a variety of well-reviewed Switch 2 games, including GOTY nominee Donkey Kong Bananza and more recently, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave reviews have given it an impressive 89 overall rating on review aggregate site OpenCritic, making it one of the highest-rated new releases of the year. Fortune's Weave is a pure Switch 2 exclusive as well, meaning that the only way to play the game is on Nintendo's latest home console/handheld hybrid, giving the device significant value. And the thing is, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave isn't the Switch 2's only recent success story.

Basically since the Switch 2 launched last year, it has enjoyed one critically-acclaimed exclusive game after another. Pokemon Pokopia was widely praised when it released earlier this year, and Splatoon Raiders is one of the highest-rated games of all time by user score. In fact, it's in fifth place at the time of this writing. Amid the brand-new exclusive game releases, Switch 2 has also enjoyed plenty of high-profile third-party multiplat games, like Resident Evil Requiem, and there are even more big new games right around the corner for fans to look forward to as well.

In terms of just what Nintendo itself is bringing to the table, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is launching in October and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is releasing in November. A second Pokopia DLC is expected to drop before the year is out, and while Nintendo isn't publishing the game, FromSoftware's Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is also supposedly releasing within the next few months. The Switch 2 hot streak is impressive to say the least, and it's looking like the console won't be slowing down in 2027.

Nintendo has yet to reveal all the new games it's releasing in 2027, but it has confirmed enough to make next year look like it will potentially be the best for the Switch 2 to date. Metroid Ravenous will kick things off in January, and later in 2027 fans can expect to play the open world Kirby game Kirby and the World Beyond, the next entry in the Xenoblade franchise Xenoblade Genesis, and Pokemon Winds and Waves. Nintendo likes to average about one major new game release per month, which means that there's potentially nine more exclusives waiting in the wings for 2027.

It should be noted that the Switch 2 has built up this impressive library of well-received games without even getting its own 3D Super Mario yet. Rumor has it that the 3D Super Mario game for the Switch 2 is on deck for late 2027, and if that turns out to be true, gamers on the platform should brace themselves for a ridiculously busy year.
