Wardogs Already Broke Its Peak Player Count Again

You might’ve noticed a new shooter firing its way through the Steam charts this week—Wardogs.

Published by Team17, this inescapable new shooter sees 100 players divided between three teams as they battle over a control zone to earn points in what can only be described as a mashup between Battlefield and Arma. There’s destruction, vehicles, proximity chat, and even an in-game economy for building out your weapons, specialist gear, and medical equipment.

Considering that players have been hankering for an old-school FPS like this for years, Wardogs is unsurprisingly proving to be one of the biggest hits of 2026, standing toe-to-toe with some of the most popular games on Steam, much like Arc Raiders did last year. And two days after launching into early access, the game only continues to set new records, reaching an impressive all-time peak of 365,111 players last night.

To put this number into perspective, Wardogs is currently ranked #4 in the top five most-played games on Steam in the last 24 hours, sitting right alongside the immovable titans PUBG, Dota 2, Apex Legends, and Counter-Strike 2.

On top of all that, Wardogs has already sold 1.25 million copies, as announced by developer Bulkhead in a blog post apologizing for the delays. “We’re watching everything, monitoring servers, and enjoying watching you play,” the team said. “Thank you again. We’ll see you in-game.”

Wardogs is coming to console, but only at the end of early access.

Wardogs has been an explosive success since day one, but that success came back to bite Bulkhead, with the game debuting to an overall ‘Mixed’ review score as players reported waiting several hours to get into a match and even crashing after finally loading into a game. However, now that the dust has settled, Wardogs boasts a more respectable ‘Very Positive’ score, with players praising the “good old fashioned FPS goodness" on offer.
