The Simpsons has been around for nearly four decades now, spawning over 800 episodes and one theatrical movie (Homer voice: one theatrical movie so far!). For some sitcoms, crossover episodes are an opportunity to generate buzz and gin up a few cheap laughs. But The Simpsons did something truly special when it crossed over with fellow Fox mainstay The X-Files.
After a profoundly drunk Homer encounters what he believes to be an alien in the woods of Springfield, Special Agents Mulder and Scully pay a visit to investigate. Fittingly, both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson stop by to voice their animated counterparts. What follows is a truly hilarious mash-up of two classic '90s shows with several of the show's most memorable gags.

As time has worn on, we've increasingly seen the series rely on "The Simpsons are going to [insert global locale here]!" plots. As tired as that trope can be, it certainly worked wonders in the Season 9 premiere. Here, an ill-fated night of binge drinking forces Homer to travel to the one place on Earth he swore never to return - New York City. Watching Homer butt heads with an entire metropolis full of misanthropes and khlav kalash sellers never gets old. And it all pays off handsomely when Homer finally snaps and takes matters into his own hands.
