Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the upcoming third and final entry in the FF7 remake project, has estimated the game will amount to a whopping 200GB, or thereabouts.
This comes via an interview with VGC, in which he discusses the game's scale as well as its file size.
It was confirmed a while ago that the physical version of the RPG will require a download (on all platforms) to play the game. This has understandably drawn some ire from enthusiasts who want to have the full thing on disc.
Asked about this, Hamaguchi confirms the game's enormous install size.
"Things are still getting worked out, but it’s probably going to be around 200GB of game," Hamaguchi says. "I understand there are a lot of opinions about this topic, but at the end of the day, the fact is we need to overcome the hardware to a certain extent."
He continues: "One thing I want to say is, even though the game will not be on the full disc, in the position we’re in, because discs may be dying out, or maybe staying, with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, we definitely wanted to deliver some kind of physical product. That was really important to us. Trust me!"
Hamaguchi says he's "really not worried" about the game's scale, saying that players will have a lot of choice in what they want to do and that there are clear rewards to help that decision.
