Nintendo’s Indie World Presentation Was Pretty Packed For A Short Show

The latest Indie World Showcase only lasted for a bit longer than 15 minutes, but that small time window didn't stop Nintendo from featuring some truly cool-looking games. The Witchbrook release date announcement kicked things off for the presentation. While definitely exciting, that's not what enthralled me the most. That's because the next unveiling was Winds of Viridia, an action-adventure game from developer Shark Jump that appears inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You play as a brown-haired boy who teams up with an adorable mothbug. But the cute companion is also apparently lethal against foes. Other things we're digging about this single-player title is how much the protagonist does stylistic spin moves as well as Hollow Knight: Silksong composer Christopher Larkin's involvement with the music. Plus, there's a demo available now on Switch 2, with a full release expected for early next year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Ldq6eq0nQ City of None followed up Winds of Viridia and kept our eyes glued to the screen. The retro pixel art is stunning, and this is coming from someone who feels burnt out by a lot of the throwback aesthetics these days. Maybe the changing four-color palette is what ultimately does it for me. Anyway, the action-puzzle platformer comes from Celeste co-creator Noel Berry--along with his brother, Liam. Celeste is one of my favorite 2D games of the past 10 years, so that connection alone has me standing up. City of None is coming to Switch and Switch 2 in 2027. The next title worth mentioning gives Square Enix a run for its money in the HD-2D space: Threads of Time. The JRPG from Balor Games and Riyo Games seems heavily influenced by Chrono Trigger, with players traveling to the Middle Ages and even a cyberpunk future. The turn-based battling looks classic yet captivating, and we'll see if the story can match the grandiose nature of the setup. It's aiming for a Summer 2027 launch on Switch and Switch 2. Obviously, these three games were just a sample from the Indie World Showcase, but they really stood out. A few other things we noticed from the show were multiple titles featuring raccoons, oddly; a popular golf game on Steam coming to Switch 2; and a roguelike brawler from a Dead Cells developer called Tenjutsu. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN2d5iEv9L0

If GTA 6 Beats Football On Thanksgiving, That’s A Win, EA Founder Says

Rockstar's GTA 6 is expected to be a giant success commercially, but just how big does the game need to be to actually be successful following a decade of development and perhaps one of the biggest development budgets ever ? We don't know, because Take-Two doesn't disclose that kind of information, but EA founder Bing Gordon has his own thoughts. On the Sozzi Unleashed show, Gordon said it would be "mind-blowing" if GTA 6 can reach 75 million copies sold. How did he arrive at that number? Gordon said he was basing this on a number--750 million--a figure he thought a previous GTA 6 trailer reached. If GTA 6 can sell 10% of that, or 75 million copies, that would be a success, he said. Gordon was referencing "the preview video," which might have been the GTA 6 Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix and then landed on YouTube. No single video for GTA 6 has 750 million views, but it's not a stretch to think GTA 6 videos distributed everywhere on the internet have reached that number collectively. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klc0fQmAL6k Also in the interview, Gordon said another sign of success for GTA 6 is if people play the game instead of watching football on Thanksgiving, which is just a few days after GTA 6 releases. "I think from my point of view, what success for GTA 6 is going to be on Thanksgiving Day after eating your turkey, you don't watch football, you play GTA," he said. Of course, it's not a one or the other situation; people will no doubt play GTA 6 and watch football. Gordon also went on to point out how, in the movie business, a film reaching $300 million is great and $1 billion is obscenely great. Video games can reach those numbers, too, but the film and video game businesses are not directly comparable for many reasons. GTA 6 is tracking to be a huge hit. Sensor Tower's data claims the game has sold about 7 million copies thus far, generating close to $700 million in revenue. The same company is projecting 25 million preorders by launch, which would work out to about $2 billion in revenue by launch. The latest data from Circana shows that nearly 1 in 3 console and PC gamers in the US plan to buy GTA 6, and that's the highest purchase intent ever recorded .

PlayStation Plus Free Games For November 2026 Revealed

PlayStation has revealed this month's batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. All PS Plus members will be able to claim a trio of freebies starting November 3: Dead Island 2 , Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered , and Monster Train 2 . Long considered vaporware after its initial reveal in 2014, Dead Island 2 was eventually released in 2023. It's a first-person zombie-slaying game with a surprisingly deep RPG system, impressive amounts of gore, and at least one incredibly creepy undead clown boss fight. It was previously made available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in 2024, but it was removed earlier this year. In case you missed it then, now is your chance to check it out. Tomb Raider fans looking to celebrate Lara Croft's legacy can grab this compilation of classic games . The original game was pretty good, but the sequel improves on it with new gameplay features, a rich art direction, deep build variety, and a pretty rad soundtrack. Nintendo Indie World’s Weirdest Game Got Me To Relax GameSpot Gaming 2 کاتژمێر پێش

Nintendo Indie World’s Weirdest Game Got Me To Relax

I often feel compelled to beeline my way through games--I'll do plenty of optional quests, but rarely do I find myself slowing down to take in the sights or just goof around. It's pedal to the metal at all times. My Arms Are Longer Now, which was featured in today's Nintendo Indie World stream , is the rare game to break me out of that compulsion. A demo was recently released for My Arms Are Longer Now, and despite consisting of just the game's opening level, I spent much longer with it than I would have expected. I often treat demos as a quick taste to get an impression of something before moving on, especially during Next Fests. In the case of My Arms Are Longer Now's demo, I did everything I could and relished in messing around, whether or not doing so connected to any actual objective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbOq8B5kCOU My Arms Are Longer Now is a comedic adventure game of sorts. You control an arm that can extend to unimaginable and unsettling lengths and are tasked with a variety of objectives. In its first level, you ultimately need to steal a briefcase, though doing so requires you to gain access to the right train car, avoid a guard, pickpocket the right passengers, and so on. Along the way, you can steal most everything else that isn't nailed down, slap bystanders around, and generally engage in hijinks. What makes this so enjoyable is the voice cast, which is made up of dozens of Australian comedians (including Millie Holten, who appeared in the Indie World stream--now's a great time to check out her comedy group's Descent series ). The juxtaposition of this disgustingly long arm and these passengers' subdued reactions to the crimes that it commits were consistently hilarious, and I wanted to poke and prod at every element on the train to be sure I got to experience everything the game allowed me to do. Sometimes that led to amusing discoveries--be sure you get up to the roof and explore the full length of the train to see what awaits--while other times my exploration led me nowhere. But I realized partway through the demo that I was having a great time investigating everything, in a way I often don't allow myself to because I'm always in a rush to move on to whatever is next. It's a testament to the silliness of the world Toot Games is putting together here that I was able to just chill out and appreciate the world I was in. My Arms Are Longer Now releases on March 11, 2027 for both Switch and Switch 2, as well as PC. The Steam demo is still available and well worth checking out.

Witchbrook Is Stardew Valley Meets Kiki’s Delivery Service, And It Finally Has A Release Date GameSpot Gaming 2 کاتژمێر پێش

Witchbrook Is Stardew Valley Meets Kiki’s Delivery Service, And It Finally Has A Release Date

Eight years after its reveal, magical cozy game Witchbrook finally has a release date. We’ve been waiting a painfully long time for this Kiki’s Delivery Service-inspired pixel-art experience to break cover, and now we finally know it will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. So you’ll have plenty of time to complete GTA 6 before diving into this severe tonal shift. At first glance, Witchbrook seems like yet another comfortable life sim along the same lines as Coral Island, Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons, and countless others. The genre is super popular, so developers need to do something incredibly impressive in order to stand out. I’m a sucker for these games even if they don’t push the boat out, but Witchbrook seems awfully determined to innovate on the cozy genre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upnkhFNuD_w If you haven’t heard of Witchbrook before, it’s a lovely little life sim where you fill the role of a new student of Witchbrook College in the gorgeous seaside town of Mossport. The place, as expected, is filled with growing witches and wizards looking to both hone their magical skills and delve deeper into mysteries at the centre of town. You can play alone, or invite three of your friends into the same world to build up businesses, decorate your houses, or engage in a cheeky broomstick race or two. It’s like Studio Trigger’s Little Witch Academia come to life. Like other games of this ilk, the focus of your journey isn’t just about learning magic, but also making friends with fellow students or local inhabitants as you form relationships that stand a chance of blossoming into romance. I’m immensely eager to find out how deep the narrative goes, since I’d love to see an original magical tale that follows in the footsteps of countless beloved anime I grew up with. Alongside social mechanics and attending school, you can engage in extracurricular activities like joining an after-school club or entering a cooking competition to hone specific skills that I imagine will allow you to perform more challenging tasks or access more recipes, spells, and so on. Between classes you can seemingly do whatever you want, whether that’s embarking on epic quests or becoming a hermit obsessed with baking. Putting its gameplay mechanics and luscious aesthetic aside for a second though, I reckon what will draw players in most is the obscene levels of customization. Every single NPC in the game world seems hand-crafted, while the sheer amount of body and clothing options when creating your own character is extraordinary. Trailers have showcased hundreds of outfits over the years along with furniture items that can be placed wherever you see fit. There is so much to this game that it's kind of overwhelming. Witchbrook has been years in the making, and stands a chance of blowing other cozy sims out of the water if it sticks the landing. I just want to get lost in a magical world for the entirety of February and forget our own exists for a while, and hopefully plenty of others will join me.
