The Fire Emblem series has been around for a long time now, and over the years it's provided rousing stories of war, camaraderie, and dark magic. And as a fan of the games, I decided that I needed to shine a spotlight on one of the most memorable parts: the diabolical villains.
There have been a lot of bad guys and gals over the years. Some of them are more cartoonish, serving as preening peacocks or ruthless jesters. Others have been implacable forces of nature, unwilling to listen to reason. And some of the most heartbreaking villains are former friends twisted by forces beyond their control.
While my preferences largely shaped the order, I gave a lot of deference to nuanced, more complex villains. So, while there are all sorts of baddies here, the winners were the ones that really made an impact, both as villains and as characters.

Once upon a time, Marla was a stern yet very kind woman. And then her father, Jedah, demanded that she and her sisters offer their souls to Duma. And the rest, as they say, is history. She gained tremendous power as a fell witch, but lost her humanity in the process.
While you could definitely say Marla was a victim of her father's ambition, she also let herself become transformed. And from that point on, she mostly served as his catspaw, summoning undead troops and monsters to harass Alm and Celica.
Marla also served as a bit of an outlier, since she's the first female boss in the series who cannot be recruited. This means that, sadly, there's no redemption for Marla. But you won't be thinking much of saving her soul when this vicious witch is trying to rip you asunder.
