JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans are now only weeks away from new episodes of Steel Ball Run after a lengthy wait, with the series slated to return to Netflix on September 25. Having remained wildly popular in Japan since its initial serialization began in 1987, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure only found international attention following the release of David Production's 2012 anime adaptation. Now, the supernatural adventure series has become a phenomenon, with its most recent release already dubbed one of its best to date.
Steel Ball Run began its anime adaptation on Netflix in March, and fans have been desperate for more. Set in the USA in the late 1800s, the incredibly popular arc follows Johnny Joestar, a former jockey who is now a paraplegic and hopes to regain the use of his legs, along with Gyro Zeppeli, a former executioner who seeks to save a child on death row. The pair compete in the titular horse race seeking the grand prize of $40 million, but find themselves in trouble after discovering that the race's sponsor has a hidden agenda. Thankfully, the wait for more action is almost over.
Fans will want to mark their calendars, as 11 brand-new episodes of Steel Ball Run are coming starting on September 25 to kick off the 2nd - 3rd STAGE. One new episode will be released each week on Fridays, and Netflix has confirmed that there will be a split-cour release across the entire run of episodes at the request of the production committee. A collection of new characters is slated to join the cast this time around, including Mountain Tim, Funny Valentine, and Hot Pants, among others.
The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga series continues to enjoy incredible success as well, with the ninth main story arc, The JoJoLands, kicking off in 2023. Earlier this year, the popular Japanese fashion retailer GU revealed a collection of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure shirts, featuring characters and motifs from Part 1, Phantom Blood, all the way to Steel Ball Run. This is far from the first crossover that JoJo has enjoyed during its long run, as in 2018, it teamed up with Mercedes, offering special merchandise and menu items while also highlighting a custom C-Class branded with the iconic onomatopoeia 'DoDoDo' from the series. Additionally, those wanting to snag an incredibly stylish Johnny Joestar and Slow Dancer figure from Good Smile Company have one day left to pre-order.
