The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct is just hours out, and Nintendo has shared a small update.
Ahead of this broadcast (and celebration) of the series, the company's Japanese social media account has teased what's to come. Unsurprisingly, it seems we'll be getting an update about Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, and there'll also be other initiatives featured that are not game-related...so, probably the movie!
Nintendo: "Tomorrow, September 8th (Tuesday) at 11 PM, we will be broadcasting "The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct 2026.9.8".
"We will be sharing non-game related initiatives for The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary, as well as details about the Nintendo Switch 2 software "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time".
Sony has also reportedly registered the domain for the upcoming Zelda movie ahead of this broadcast, which has led to speculation the film's official website could be going live very soon.

The Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2 is currently scheduled to launch in 2026. It was announced in June and rated in the US in July. As for the movie, after a delay and supposed cast leaks, it will now arrive in cinemas in April 2027. A Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and pro controller also reportedly leaked in August.
