Diablo 4's latest season was supposed to be a major celebration of the franchise's history, but its launch has gotten off to a rough start that has now come to a halt. Season 15, titled Season of Hell's Legacy, is tied to Diablo's 30th anniversary and adds a new seasonal questline, returning characters, powerful Legacy Uniques, and other updates. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 players have spent much of launch day dealing with login problems.
The issues began early on September 15, with Diablo 4 players reporting that they could not get into the game. Multiple error codes began appearing, including 3000008 and 3000006, as more players attempted to start the new season. Blizzard initially acknowledged the problem and said its team was investigating, but the situation continued to cause problems as Season 15 rolled out.
As reported by Kotaku, Blizzard has now delayed the launch of Diablo 4 Season 15 altogether. The company confirmed the delay after the login problems continued throughout the day, saying it was still working to resolve the issues affecting the launch. Some Diablo 4 players were able to enter Season 15, but others were locked out entirely, while reports also surfaced of characters entering the new season with gold and Paragon Board unlocks that should have been reset. Blizzard's new Rebirth feature, which moves characters from the Eternal realm into a Seasonal realm, was reportedly involved in some of those issues. As one player noted, "This is how Diablo won..."

The timing is especially unfortunate because Diablo 4 Season 15 was designed to be one of the game's biggest celebrations of the franchise's history. The Season of Hell's Legacy adds new story content featuring the Diablo 4 debut of Deckard Cain, alongside endgame updates, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements. Diablo 4 is also permanently adding nine Legacy Uniques based on iconic items from previous games, including Messerschmidt's Reaver and the Stone of Jordan.
Season 15 was meant to serve as the centerpiece of Diablo 4's 30th anniversary celebration, with the seasonal questline looking back across the history of the franchise. Players are supposed to encounter recreated memories of legendary heroes and enemies while exploring Sanctuary's past, giving Diablo 4 a chance to directly celebrate where the series came from. Instead, players will have to wait for that trip through Diablo history while Blizzard deals with the problems preventing the season from properly getting started.
Blizzard has not yet provided a new launch time for Diablo 4 Season 15, saying only that it will share additional updates when it has more information. Players who were able to enter the season before the delay may also see their progress in Diablo 4 affected as Blizzard works to correct the launch problems. After years of Diablo games becoming synonymous with chaotic launches, Season 15 was supposed to be a particularly celebratory one for Diablo 4, making the current delay incredibly unfortunate.
