Zoan-type Devil Fruits are one of the three main Devil Fruit classes that exist in the world of One Piece. This class allows an individual to turn into various creatures, including ancient and mythical beings, as well as their hybrids, at will.
Zoan-type Devil Fruits have gained a lot of importance in the last stretch of the story, especially since Luffy's awakening of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, in One Piece chapter 1044 on March 28, 2022. Now, in the climax of the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro has officially confirmed to us the three absolute strongest Zoan-type Devil Fruits in One Piece, as well as set up some other major Devil Fruits to be revealed after the conclusion of the Elbaf arc.
Among the Zoan types, the Mythical Zoan, which allows the user to transform into creatures from different mythologies, has always been the most special. In the Marineford Arc, Kizaru clearly states that the Mythical Zoan class is even rarer than the Logia, which goes to show that the power offered by these Devil Fruits is incredibly special. Among all the Mythical Zoans that we have seen so far, Monkey D. Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which was officially revealed to us in One Piece chapter 1044 on March 28, 2022, is certainly one of the most impressive ones. This Devil Fruit was consumed by none other than Monkey D. Luffy, and while it was initially believed to be a Paramecia-type Gomu Gomu no Mi, its original classification was always Mythical Zoan.
Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika allows Luffy to transform into the Sun God Nika, who stems from the myths of Elbaf and embodies the Warrior of Liberation, allowing him to fight with immense freedom in the face of all adversity. Undoubtedly, Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is one of the three strongest Zoan fruits that we have seen in One Piece.
"Possessing a body with the powers of rubber, and fighting in whatever way he fancies, bringing smiles to the faces of people, the Warrior of Liberation...also known as the Sun God, Nika!" - Elders explain the Nika Fruit, One Piece Chapter #1044
Then, there is the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, to consider. This Devil Fruit was officially revealed to us in One Piece chapter 1175, which was officially released on March 2, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14. This Devil Fruit is wielded by none other than the Accursed Prince Loki, who ate it 14 years ago. Its powers allow him to transform into the giant black lightning dragon, and it grants him enough power to destroy the entire world. Loki's strength has been put on display in Elbaf ever since Nerona Imu's arrival in chapter 1179 on April 5, 2026. Since then, it has been incredibly clear for us to see that the powers of this Devil Fruit are on a completely different level and that it can well and truly go on to destroy the entire world, given enough time.
"The Mythical Zoan Ryu Ryu no Mi...it is said that whoever eats it can transform into the largest dragon in the whole world. The size of the creature is relative to the initial size of whoever ate the fruit. They say this dragon breathes lightning, and when it flies, its jet-black wings turn day into night." — Elder Jarul explains Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhhoggr, One Piece Chapter #1175
Finally, there is Nerona Imu's Akuma no Mi. Technically, the Akuma no Mi does not have any classification yet, but given that it grants Imu various transformations, which are a telltale sign of Zoan fruits, we can put this fruit in the Zoan category for now, until Eiichiro Oda comes out and assigns a category to it. Together with the Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika, as well as the Ryu Ryu no Mi Model: Nidhoggr, the Akuma no Mi wielded by Nerona Imu completes the trinity of the three strongest Zoan fruits that we have seen in One Piece to date. That certainly makes for quite a powerful lineup. In the climax of the Elbaf arc, all three of these Devil Fruits are being utilized to their absolute best by their users, and we are sure to see more moving forward.
